On June 28<\/strong>, the Landscape Festival<\/strong> will be held in Cantallops (Alt Empord\u00e0). A day dedicated to highlighting the importance of sustainable land management through extensive livestock farming and local products. Under the motto \u201cPreserving the land and producing gastronomy<\/strong>,\u201d the event aims to show how extensive livestock farming helps preserve the landscape and prevent wildfires, while also promoting a locally rooted economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative is promoted by the Cantallops City Council<\/strong>, Adrinoc<\/strong>, and Ramats de Foc<\/strong>, within the framework of the programs \u201c12 months, 12 landscapes<\/strong>,\u201d which are part of Som Gastronomia-Catalonia World Gastronomy Region 2025<\/strong>, and is funded by the Girona Provincial Council<\/strong> and the Generalitat of Catalonia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will take place at Hort del Capell\u00e0<\/strong>, in the village of Cantallops (Alt Empord\u00e0). It will begin at 10 a.m. with a guided tour of the hay meadows led by expert Albert Campsolines<\/strong>, to learn firsthand about the ecological and cultural value of these areas managed through extensive livestock farming. At 11 a.m., the day will continue with a wool workshop conducted by Laia Aguil\u00e0 <\/strong>from El Talleret del Clot<\/em>, who will demonstrate the artisanal process of working with this material linked to the herds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 12 p.m., the presentation of the Ramats de Foc<\/strong> project will take place, with institutional welcomes from Joan Sabart\u00e9s, mayor of Cantallops<\/strong>, and Merc\u00e8 Soler, deputy director of livestock at the Department of Climate Action, Food, and Rural Agenda<\/strong>, as well as talks by technicians and farmers who will explain how grazing helps reduce the risk of wildfires and conserve the landscape. Afterwards, attendees will be able to enjoy a free tasting of Ramats de Foc products<\/strong>, hosted by Restaurant El C\u00e0ntir<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the afternoon, the documentary \u201cVoices of Transhumance<\/strong>\u201d by Paula Escribano<\/strong> will be screened, an audiovisual piece that gathers testimonies about the practice of transhumance and its cultural and ecological importance. The screening will be followed by an open discussion<\/strong> with transhumant herders to delve deeper into the topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The little ones will also have their own space with a children\u2019s show by Tulasi Teatre<\/strong>, designed to bring them closer to rural life and nature. The festival will conclude with a concert by Ministrils de Llers<\/strong>, accompanied by another tasting of cheeses from Ramats de Foc and wines from local wineries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the Ramats de Foc <\/strong>project, we celebrate this initiative that highlights the fundamental role of extensive livestock farming in landscape conservation and in building a more sustainable agri-food model.
